Bearded Fellas

We’re in this together

Many moons ago, Bearded Fellas began as a way for me to be present as both artist and parent.  It was an idea to embrace family, and it’s been a joy to welcome you to be a part of it for so long.

With the current world happenings keeping most everyone home, we plan to offer some ideas over the next few weeks to practice togetherness, cleanliness, creativity, and ideally...a little fun.  Our hope is to encourage you and remind you that we’re all in this together.   You’re so totally not alone!  And really this applies whether there’s a pandemic, everyone’s simply home for spring break, or that daily “welcome to parenthood” reality.

There’s a saying “if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”  And man is it true!  As parents, we set the tone in our home.  So to start out this season of social distancing, we first want to ask where are you finding peace, hope, and joy?  Is media/ social media helping or deterring you from resting in these?  What do you need to mute or unfollow because they actually add stress?  What or who do you need to add to your life that will encourage and elevate a place of peace?
These are questions that I have to ask myself regularly to evaluate where my heart is. Because “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh”.
And right now, if we get to spend all this time together, I want to make sure I’m promoting a space filled with love, peace, and happiness.

You Are Loved

Valentine’s Day.
Friendship Day.
Dia de Amor.
However you title it, February 14th is a day reserved for remembering those we care about…and showing it!

To celebrate, we’ve designed some happy coloring sheets. Download and print these out on printer paper, card stock, or even watercolor paper*!

Some ideas of how to put these lovelies to good use:
•cut out the smaller pages as cards for kiddos to pass out at school - colored in already, or gifted with a small pack of crayons.

•have a little stack of size options on a tray or in a basket, accompanied by pretty containers filled with colored pencils/ crayons/ markers for a coloring activity at a party.

•use as a chill hangout activity with your kiddos. That laundry pile can wait!

*For printing on water color paper, we recommend a thinner weight paper - especially if printing at home. (In the image above, we used a heavier weight and our printer wasn’t too happy about it.)

You can only find 9” x 12” watercolor paper? No problem! Just cut it down to fit the letter paper size. We did just that with the tools shown above.
Major tip of the day: If using an ink-jet printer, be careful of the lines while applying watercolor: Those inked lines could smudge!
